The Jharkhand Assembly on Wednesday passed the ‘Jharkhand Registration of Marriage Bill-2012’, making registration of every marriage contracted in the State necessary as per the provisions.
Though the Bill, which will become an Act after getting signed by the Governor, also says that no marriage shall be deemed to be invalid solely on the ground that it was not registered. The step has been taken in accordance with the Supreme Court order making every marriage registered compulsorily.
