JVM has decided to go ahead with its plan to stage a day-long protest against proposed land Acquitting Bill of the Centre. The protest would be organised on June 9 at Raj Bhawan that vows to gather support of all political outfits in the Opposition.
The party that organised a preparatory meet on Wednesday with main contribution coming from the Ranchi unit. However, most of the major political parties in the State have already maintained a distance from the protest.
“Not at all, we are not going to be a party in the sit-in. We are a national party and have been already fighting the battle against the changes made in the land Bill and others brought by the NDA Government. Our ‘gaon-gaon-pawn-pawn’ programme is meant for this only. At most, we would be extending our moral support to the protest,” said Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary Alok Dubey.
Similar expressions came from largest Opposition party of the State JMM. “We have already protested over the issue and no need to go along the JVM on land Bill. We have made our stand clear and people know that very well,” said JMM leader Vinod Pandey.
On the other the JVM is banking on the support coming from minor forces in the form of Bandhu Tirkey and some social activists.
“We are going ahead with the programme of maha-dharna at Raj Bhawan on June 9. Babulal Marandi would lead the protest that would be supported by thousands of activists and workers. Political parties would also extend their support,” said Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, Ranchi city president of the JVM.
