Former Chief Minister cum BJP Legislature Party Leader Babulal Marandi has written to Chief Secretary Sukhdev Singh seeking a probe against Sub Registrar of Giridih Sahdev Mehra. The BJP leader has also attached complaint applications of two residents of Giridih with his letter.
In his letter Marandi said, “You would be aware that Sahdev Mehra, the then District Under Registrar, Ranchi was one of the main accused in the land scam by Sanjeevani Buildcon, while being the registrar, he wrongly tampered the land documents with the land mafia and handed over the land to Sanjivani Buildcon. Benefitted and usurped the amount deposited by hundreds of people to buy land, which is being investigated by C.B.I. Sahdev Mehra also went to jail in this case and is now out on bail.”
“While on his post, he had made the registry office a den of loot and acquired property worth crores illegally, which is also under investigation, but by taking advantage of the complications of the law, he is again on the post and at present he is the District Registrar, Giridih. The post has been occupied for the last 2.5 years. During the field visit, the people of Giridih met me and complained about his corrupt deeds that he does not register anyone's land without taking a hefty commission. They even showed some proof,” he added.
Marandi has further written, “The extent has been reached when the applicants Kishan Kumar Sinha and Indrajit Yadav registered the land under Bengabad police station. When he reached the office, Mehra demanded a bribe of one lakh rupees in lieu of the registration, after the buyer refused to pay the bribe amount; he pushed them out of the office and threatened to implicate him in the SC/ST Act. Mehra even said that he will not do the registry until the bribe amount is paid, go wherever you want to go. All this is also in the video recording, which has also been published in all the newspapers, whose photocopy is attached.”
“When this news came in the headlines of the media, then in order to save himself, he has also registered a case by making false and fabricated allegations against the land buyer. Despite everything being correct, the buyer's registration has not been done till date. If the service period of Mehra is investigated, then it will be known how he has earned wealth worth crores by misusing his position,” he said.
The BJP leader said, “Therefore, you would be requested that in the light of the application, strict action should be taken against Sahdev Mehra, District Under-Registration, Giridih and if he is found guilty after getting it investigated, he should be suspended.”
