Marandi writes to CM on ‘fake’ cases against scribes

BJP legislature party leader Babulal Marandi has written to Chief Minister Hemant Soren drawing his attention to the false cases being filed against journalists in almost every district of the state and the misbehaviour with them. A delegation of All India Small and Medium Journalists Welfare Association has met him and handed over a memorandum on the issue.

Journalists have to risk their lives to play their unbiased role. “Journalists play an important role in exposing infiltration and corruption in the subordinate offices of the government that is why journalists are always on the target of anti-social elements, even sometimes they are attacked fatally. In such a situation, it is an important duty of the state government to protect the life and property of journalists. Unfortunately this is not happening. In almost every district, false cases are filed by anti-social elements and corrupt officers for the purpose of harassing journalists, so that journalists can be intimidated and stopped writing. The list of cases against journalists has been mentioned in detail in the memorandum. Therefore, you are requested to conduct an inquiry in the light of the memorandum given by the Journalists Association,” he stated.
