JVM(P) supremo Babulal Marandi on Monday welcomed the conviction of RJD chief lalu Prasad in the fodder scam case. Addressing the media at a local circuit house, he said that the verdict was much awaited and the guilty must be punished as per law of the land. He said the law has taken its own course and justice has prevailed.
“It was an important judgment and steps need to be taken to expedite more such cases of corruption against politicians. Scams have been plaguing the political system of the country. I would request the judiciary to accelerate the process to punish the guilty,” he said.
The senior leader also claimed that the outcome of the scam involving Prasad would not have any impact on Jharkhand politics because RJD did not have much hold in the state. The former Chief Minister Marandi said RJD had never gained a full majority in Jharkhand
He said the judgment would send out a strong message that the judiciary would not spare the guilty even after almost two decades.
Marandi also criticised the land Acquisition Bill, which was recently passed in the Parliament, and said that it would have adverse impact on state's poor tribals. "land is the lifeline of the tribal masses in Jharkhand and this Bill will have a negative impact," JVM chief Babulal Marandi said.
The JVM leader meanwhile, asserted that his party will contest all 14 lok Sabha seats alone in the state and, ruled out any possibility of tie up with any political outfit in the upcoming elections in the state. With an aim to mobilise party workers in connection with the preparations for next polls JVM is also organising party workers meet across the state.
