The State BJP leadership has taken the mob lynching incident at Besrajara village under Kolebira police station of Simdega district seriously, in which a youth Sanju Pradhan was burnt to death by an unruly mob.
On Friday, a high-level delegation of the State BJP headed by State BJP legislative party leader Babulal Marandi visited Besrajara village and met the widow and other family members of late Sanju Pradhan.
The BJP delegation included BJP national secretary and Ranchi Mayor Asha Lakra, national president of party Scheduled Tribes (ST) Morcha and Rajya Sabha MP Samir Oraon, State vice president and former MLA Gangotri Kujur and others.
Marandi, later talking to the media persons said that the incident is not simple, but there is big conspiracy behind the incident.
An attempt is being made to cover up the incident by putting the theory of illegal cutting down of trees.
The BJP leader said that police is misleading people and media saying that buying, cutting and selling of woods had ended in October 2021 itself and there was no dispute over it.
The BJP leader further said that Sanju Pradhan was protesting against the unconstitutional and prohibited works being done by some people in the region because of which some people were against him and had plotted a conspiracy to eliminate him. The BJP leader claimed that some people in this connection had even called a meeting in which a conspiracy was chalked out.
The BJP leader targeting the police said that the entire incident was in full knowledge of local police. The BJP leader even demanded a high level probe in the incident along with action against guilty police personnel behind the incident.
Sanju Pradhan of Chaprideepa village was dragged out of his home Tuesday afternoon by villagers after he skipped a meeting called by them to resolve a tree-felling issue involving him.
The villagers accused him of cutting trees at a place which is considered sacred according to tribal customs.
Pradhan was taken to nearby Besrajara village, where the meeting had been called, and lynched.
The deceased person's widow on Wednesday alleged that the killing took place in police presence and that although she begged them to save her husband, no one moved.
The lynching incident took place just within a fortnight after Jharkhand State Assembly passed the anti mob-lynching bill.
In December last week, the Jharkhand Assembly passed Prevention of Mob Violence and Mob Lynching Bill, 2021, which aims at providing “effective protection” of constitutional rights and the prevention of mob violence in the state.
