BJP state president Babulal Marandi has shared a post on social media targeting the state government. Babulal has written, "Capable women get Rs 2500 and widows get only Rs 1000. By what logic is the Hemant government creating this unjust difference? The government should reconsider the decision to trample on the rights of the most vulnerable class, helpless widowed women."
Marandi said through social media that the condition of our widowed mothers and sisters has become very pathetic and worrying today, because they are facing huge crisis and neglect in the Hemant government. Marandi further said that the widow pension, which is the only support of their life, has been stopped for the last 5-6 months. He said that the women say that the government has transferred the money of the widow pension fund to the 'Maiya Samman Yojana', due to which their pension has stopped. Marandi said that widow pension is not just a sum of money for our mothers and sisters, but a support that gives them respect and self-reliance. The discontinuation of pension has increased problems in their everyday life. Many women are struggling for food, medicines and other needs, but even after this the Hemant government is making fun of their situation by ignoring their helplessness and pain.
Marandi said that it is not justified in any way to promote another scheme at the cost of one scheme. The government has to understand how important pension plays in the lives of our widowed mothers and sisters, so the Chief Minister should immediately wake up from sleep and restore the widow pension. The government should stop making fun of the helplessness of mothers and sisters.
In a significant move to empower women in Jharkhand, Chief Minister Hemant Soren transferred ₹2,500 to each woman beneficiary of the ‘Maiya Samman Yojana’ last week. The initiative aims to provide financial aid to women across the state, promoting their economic independence and recognizing their contributions to household and community welfare.
The Maiya Samman Yojana, one of the flagship schemes of the Hemant Soren-led government, highlights the administration’s commitment to gender equity and socio-economic development. The scheme was initially launched five months ago with a monthly installment of Rs 1,000. Following a Cabinet meeting, the installment has now been increased to Rs. 2,500 ahead of the elections. The initiative seeks to alleviate financial hardships and enable women to access resources for essential needs, education, healthcare, or small-scale entrepreneurship.
