Marandi for high level probe in SI Sandhya murder case

Published on:

BJP Legislative Party leader Babulal Marandi has termed the murder of police Sub Inspector (SI) Sandhya Topno, posted in Tupudana as part of larger conspiracy. Marandi said that based on media reports it appears that there is similarity in murder of SI Sandhya Topno and other police officer Roopa Tirkey.

Marandi said that he has met Sandhya's family members today, the relatives informed that the behavior of OP in-charge Kanhaiya Singh was not good towards Sandhya. Kanhaiya Singh used to force her on duty.

Even after such a big incident, Kanhaiya Singh was not suspended but was shifted to the police line. The BJP leader also alleged that Kanhaiya Singh's role in the cow smuggling case has been suspicious in the past. He alleged that Kanhaiya Singh's behavior towards Sandhya was like deliberately pushing her to death.

On July 20, 2022, Sub-Inspector Sandhya Topno was mowed down while she was on duty leading to her death. She was crushed by cattle smugglers. Officer Sandhya was chasing the vehicle that was carrying the animals illegally. She got a tip about the vehicle and ran after the vehicle to nab the accused. However, the accused drove the vehicle in the opposite direction to crush the officer on the spot.

Marandi also doubted senior police officers who assigned female police officers on night duty when criminals were running away from many police station areas by breaking the barricading and dodging the police. While 8-10 more policemen were present in Tupudana OP, then why Sandhya  was sent on night duty.

Marandi also raised the issue of deputation of Meera Singh as new officer in-charge of Tupudana OP, replacing Kanhaiya Singh. He said that Meera Singh is a tainted officer as she was caught by ACB at Khunti Mahila Police Station while taking bribe from a tribal woman. It is clear that the intention of the government is to save the accused from the posting of corrupt officials.

The intention of the government can be clearly understood by the posting of such a tainted officer by the state government in an industrial area like Tupudana in the capital Ranchi, where there is a lot of crime. Such a tainted officer should not be given any police station in the state. Marandi alleged that the cattle smugglers enjoyed government protection.  Media in-charge Shivpujan Pathak, media co-in-charge Yogendra Pratap Singh, Tariq Imran were also present in the press conference.

Earlier, Marandi congratulated and congratulated Draupadi Murmu, who was sworn in as the 15th President, on behalf of the people of Jharkhand.
