As many as 52 people, who took part in Jharkhand movement to get a separate State for the people of Jharkhand, were felicitated at a programme on Thursday.
Chief guest on the occasion, Social Welfare Minister louis Marandi, said, “This is the Government of full majority. The benefits of welfare schemes would reach to each person. The State is in the path of development with cooperation of all. The participants of Jharkhand movement had played vital role in the creation of the State. Their relatives would be given jobs and reservation in certain fields.”
DC Manjunath Bhajantri said, “The Jharkhand statehood movement’s participants must play their roles in development of the district and State too.”
On the occasion, 10 beneficiaries were given the forest mutation papers and 10 acres and 70 dismil of land. After the programme, the minister visited Kasturba Gandhi Residential School and assured the students to solve their problems. The minister directed the DC and welfare officer to fix the issues of drinking water, electricity and toilets. The condition of the old hostel was miserable. He directed to start the work of deep boring within 10 days.
On the occasion, DC Manjunath Bhajantri, senior officers and BJP district head Rakesh Prasad were present.
