It may be mentioned that on May 19, the CPI (Maoist) rebels launched an attack on the Dhanbad-Jhargram MEMU Passenger train at  Kokpara. The rebels opened 7-8 rounds of firing , though no passengers were injured. They assaulted the driver, guard, assistant driver and station master of Kokpara before fleeing with their cellphones and three walkie talkies.

The police suspected the Kanu Munda squad operating in the Ghatsila sub-division bordering West Bengal to be the mastermind. The police also carried kurki Jabti against one of the activists of the squad.

A senior police official said that only deploying of police force would not

serve the

purpose, but villagers need to be aware and not fall in the trap of rebels.
