An attack was made by naxals in Koderma district at Satgawan block situated 80 kilometers from district head quarter in forest area. Naxals set fire in a school building and panchayat bhawan at late Friday night. Furniture were burnt in the fire set by the naxals, said DC K Ravikumar talking to media. The damaged furniture and other infrastructures in the incident will be restored soon, he added.

As per the information, the incident took place late night at about 9.30 PM. Two or three bombs were also blasted at the moment. He told that it seems a reaction against the peaceful polls in the district. Presence of naxalites was reported during the elections and major security arrangements were made at naxal affected areas and the polls were concluded peacefully with hike in voting percentage. The necessary actions will be taken accordingly, he told.

ASP (operation)  Naushd Alam after visiting the incident place told that the reason behind the attacks on schools and Goverment buildings is only to gain mileage and create a fear psychosis among the local population. As the area is the junction point of three districts Koderma, Giridih and Nawada (Bihar), the movements of such organisations were reported time to time in the area.

He told that schools and panchayat bhawans are a symbol of the Government and this is the Naxal’s way of expressing their opposition to the State. Here also the upgraded middle school and panchayat bhawan was the camp made for the forces during the recent general polls and I think that the Government’s buildings were targeted to create fear in the minds of villagers and stamp there presence in the area.
