After prolonged silence, the armed CPI (Maoists) cadres have struck again at Bhelwaghati forest area at the borders of Giridih and Jamui districts, killing three villagers for allegedly being police informers. The deceased have been identified as Mukesh Rai (25), son of Suresh Rai of Choki village, Jogendra Turi (35), son of Rameshwar Turi of Tilakdih village and Tipan Mandal (30) from Gadi village in Jamui, son of Pango Mandal.
According to police sources, the CPI (Maoist) ultras first struck Choki village, 40 km from Giridih district late on Saturday night followed by Tilakdih and Gadi village in wee hours of Sunday. Both villages fall under the Giridih district while one in Jamui in Bihar. The police suspect involvement of the same Maoist squad in all the three incidents. The police recovered leaflets from the spots stating that all three villagers were police informers and charged the police to beat up innocent villagers in the name of green hunt.
According to reports 30 to 35 armed miscreants raided all three villages one after another and took Mukesh Rai, Jogendra Turi and Tipan Mandal from their house and threatened their family members not to follow them. The villagers saw their bodies with throat slit at Bhelwaghati forest.
Meanwhile, the police have launched a combing operation around the panic stricken villages to arrest the rebels. The killing triggered panic among the villagers who were too scared to inform the police. The police reached the forest this morning and recovered the bodies, which have been sent for post-mortem.
