Jharkhand police have refuted the claims of CPI (Maoist) that the recent incident where a truck driver from Punjab was burnt alive in Khunti district during Bihar-Jharkhand bandh on August 3 was not orchestrated by their cadres.
Additional director general (ADG) of police RK Mallick issued a press note on Tuesday evening stating that police have nabbed a Maoist cadre Dibar Munda, who has informed that senior leaders of the left wing extremists’ group were involved in the crime.
According to police CPI (Maoists) had burnt Joga Singh of Amritsar along with his truck in Adda valley on Khunti-Tamar road under Saiko police station. The incident took place during the bandh called by Maoists to mark the end of the week-long ‘martyrs week’.
Police said that after committing the inhuman crime Maoist have issued press communiqué claiming that they were not behind the act.
Countering the claim Mallick said that Dibar Munda has informed police that Maoist sub-zonal member (SZM) Boyada Pahan, SZM Jit Rai Munda, Budhram Munda, Bacchan Munda Bimal lohra and about a dozen unknown members were involved in the crime.
Police have claimed that Boyada is named accused in dozens of extremist related cases lodged with different police stations while Jit Rai Munda is accused in six and Vimal in seven cases.
The ADG stated, “The incident is but one of the many examples which shows that Maoists have turned into a lumpen organization. They must have taken action against the members who committed the crime”.
