Maoist training camp destroyed

As Naxal operation in the jungles of Barkadih near Kumandih village in latehar continues for the 10th consecutive day, the security forces have succeeded in destroying a Maoist training camp and have seized three Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), walky-talkie, fuse wires, Maoist literatures, uniforms, several back-packs and over 15 mobile chargers. The operation is supposed to continue for more few days.

“Some smaller forward camps have been destroyed by the security forces accommodating around 20 rebels were supposed to be meant to take on the police,” said ADG (Modernization) and Police Spokesperson SN Pradhan. The rebels have already made all preparations to take on the police.

“The operation is believed to continue for some more days as we  believe they are not going to leave in a hurry as they have spread IEDs all over the place to cause maximum harm to us,” added Pradhan. According to Pradhan, they are at least 150 in numbers and could not be ruled out to shrink out to the nearby jungles as the terrain is vast and is not easy for the security forces to sanitize the whole area.

“Moreover, it’s not going to be easy for them as their supply points have been choked,” added Pradhan. The list of seized items include three IEDs, one walky-talky, 18 mobile chargers, four back-packs, medicines, diaries, uniforms, 13 detonators, Naxal literatures, receipts of levies taken by the businessmen and contractors, codex wire and other several things used by the Maoists.

According to a local source, over 300 rebels are surrounded by the security forces on the hills of Murhar in latehar while the security forces have failed to reach them as the rebels have spread landmines on the way. As the security forces moves up to diffuse the landmines, the rebels start firing on them keeping the police on the backfoot.

The police forces are bound to fire on the pocket from where the bullets are being fired due to which hundreds of villagers living in the area have left their homes and are taking shelter to the safer places. DGP Rajiv Kumar himself is monitoring the operations in latehar and has said that this time the security forces will not let the rebels go; they will have to surrender or face bullets.
