Maoist sub zonal commander held in Palamu

Published on:

A sub zonal commander of CPI Maoist Mukhdev Yadav was sent to central jail today who was arrested on Thursday DEC 13 at his village Giddi under Harihurganj police station in a joint search operation of Palamu police and 134 battalion of CRPF said SP Palamu Indrajeet Mahatha.

Addressing media persons here on Friday, the SP said that Yadav carried a reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head and was very active in Bihar and Jharkhand especially in areas close to the border of Palamu with Bihar like Deo, Aurangabad, Madanpur, Dhibra etc.

Yadav has 9 cases against him in Jharkhand while he has more than this number of cases in Bihar.

No recovery was made from him.  He joined extremism in 2005 and till this November 3 he had a fight with police in Bihar’s Chakar Bandha. SP said this man, 55 years of age remained all through active covertly or overtly. Yadav is an accused of land mining police party, firing at police party, burning equipment of BSNL tower, burning of road making tools and kidnapping driver of the road making tools etc.

The SP said, “The disclosure made by this arrested sub zonal commander is most stunning. Some para teachers were in touch with him. Yadav has given police names of about 30 to 35 people. The para teachers come in it. Yadav was in cahoots with them”.

Mahatha went on to say, “Police would serve these people with notices whose names have been given by this Maoist to explain their side of version. CPI Maoist is a banned terror outfit. How come that para teachers and others among 30 to35 names that Yadav so uttered before police did not know this about CPI Maoist. All these know it very well but continue to maintain a cozy relation with Maoist.”

“This connection with a Maoist or to quote the Maoist that he acknowledges the acquaintances of these people with him cannot be just a hand raising or waving affair but a close one too,” said the SP.

There is a police set up at Sarsoute Pathra in Harihurganj – Pipra axis which is like a big thorn in flesh for the Maoists and probably this Yadav must have banked upon these 30 to 35 people that this arrested Maoist so revealed their names for variety of works including information and other activities going on in this border police station of Palamu with Bihar.

Mahtha said, “Yadav comes from Harihurganj. He knows people there by names. And these people too remain close to him. Can extremism be wiped out in just one or two years?  I firmly believe it needs another one decade to fight them out but this one decade will not be sufficient if rigorous and self disciplined drive and operations against naxals and their supporters do not continue 24X7.”
