Maoist squad wiped out from Palamu

Published on:

Security forces have nabbed two Maoists Dipak Ganjhu and Yogender Bhuiyan and two minors. One of the minors is a girl. With this arrest of four there is the total annihilation of a Maoist squad led by Rakesh Bhuiyan in the region of Naudeeha Chhaterpur and Harihurganj in Palamu the bordering areas close to Bihar.

Security forces recovered INSAS rifle (2), 303 bore rifle (1), US made semi automatic rifle (1), 451 cartridges, 50,140 cash which is a levy money, 8 magzines, 3 cell phones, 8 sims and one rifle charger.

The arms and ammunition were dug out at places like Majhouli, Khaparwadeeh, Bhorha jungles.

DIG police Palamu Vipul Shukla held a press briefing and was cheerfully flanked by SP Indrajeet Mahatha, ASP Arun K Singh second in command of CRPF 134 battalion Tripathy, DSP Chhaterpur Shambhu Kumar Singh and other probationer DSPs.

It was a different press briefing of DIG Vipul Shukla as he profusely congratulated and thanked his officials right from OCs to SP and ASP and DSP saying this good work is the result of a precise and flawless co ordination with all like CRPF, Special Branch, Intelligence Bureau etc. The team work led to this finish of the Maoists squad on this axis in Palamu DIG reiterated.

The squad was of Rakesh Bhuiyan who was killed in encounter.  Four others too were killed. Two of them were women. One woman cadre of this outfit was arrested. One minor Maoist surrendered. There were deaths amidst life too in this war on this naxal outfit said sources.

The DIG said it all started with an encounter with this Rakesh squad and now its culmination is the total devastation of the squad. The squad is man-less and machine-less.

SP Indrajeet Mahatha said this squad is now left with just one cadre Vimal who has abandoned his weapon and has slipped into Bihar as he knew life would run out of him if he dared to stay put alone in Palamu since the security forces have scoured all their hide outs, jungles where the Maoists used to hide their heads for few hours before embarking for another uncertain future.

Two of the arrested Maoists Dipak and Yogender were remanded in judicial custody on Thursday, while the minors went under the care and protection of the child care unit.

Sources said the elimination of the Maoists squad on the bordering area of Bihar in Palamu will have its impact in Bihar too from where naxals will think twice in entering Palamu as here now there is the deadly combination of police CRPF and intelligence sleuths rendering lives of the Maoists more and more miserable.
