Decision makers in the State Government seem to be utterly confused with the intricacies involved in the much awaited school teachers’ appointment for primary and middle schools. At one hand, districts — except Ranchi — are yet to declare names of shortlisted primary teachers whereas on the other side, Human Resources Department (HRD) is stuck in approving initial recruitment process for middle school teachers.
As many as 65, 439 candidates had cleared the Jharkhand Teacher’s Eligibility Test (JTET) 2013 examination comprising both primary and middle school categories in different subjects on May 28 last year. The primary level includes class 1 to 5 and the middle level includes class 6 to 8.
On Monday, Ranchi was the first district to upload 3,850 names of the shortlisted JTET candidates in the website of Ranchi District Superintendent of Education (www.dseranchi.com)who had applied for primary school teacher’s post. The database of remaining 619 candidates was expected to be released on the same website on Tuesday.
However, other districts have still not confirmed the tentative date of publishing their results. Asked about the recruitment of middle school teachers, sources said that the Finance Department has instructed HRD officials to submit clarifications on various issues like school building status, number of students in these schools along with water and toilet facilities.
“Yes we have asked the HRD to submit the file bearing answers of these queries. Details cannot be revealed to the media,” Finance Department Secretary AP Singh said on Tuesday.
Irked with such delays, Chief Minister (CM) Hemant Soren has instructed Chief Secretary Sajal Chakraborty and Principal Secretary to CM Sukhdeo Singh on Monday to hold a round table conference with respective ministers and secretaries of departments within two or three days who are unable to take final decision on pending matters concerning public welfare including panchayat rights, grants for Madarsas and some minority centric cases.
Primary Education Director J Oraon met HRD minister Geetashree Oraon and Chief Secretary Sajal Chakraborty today. “CM has directed his Principal Secretary and Chief Secretary to take final decisions on the mentioned matters during the round table conference itself. Thereafter, the cabinet meeting will be held,” CM’s Political Advisor Himanshu Shekhar Choudhary told The Pioneer.
JTET has a validity of five years so once a candidate qualifies the exam he or she can apply in any of the private or Government school within the next five years. According to rules, if such a candidate fails to get a job in any school within five years, he or she will have to again appear for TET.
