A 40-year old man was stabbed by a criminal on the Dispensary Road in Sonari on Tuesday morning, spreading panic in the area. The incident took place just 30 metres away from the Sonari police station. The victim, identified as Ravi Bhuiyan, is struggling for his life at the MGM Medical College and Hospital emergency. He received injuries on his arm.
A resident of Sonari, Bhuiyan was a building mason by profession and was returning to his house after completing his work. The doctors who attended to the victim said that too much bleeding has caused the patient’s condition serious.
He was walking on the Dispensary Road towards his house when a man stopped him and suddenly started attacking him with a knife. Bhuiyan managed to walk a little more towards the Sonari Police Station and fell down at the entrance of the station premises. A group of policemen rushed him to the medical college hospital.
Officer-in-charge, Sonari Police Station, Animesh Gupta confirmed that the incident took place near the Sonari Police Station, but claimed that the victim was rushed to the medical college hospital as soon as he was found lying in front of the police station.
“We are investigating the incident but from whatever he said, it appears that the stabbing must have taken place in sequel to a personal enmity between Bhuiyan and the attacker,” said Gupta. The officer-in-charge said Bhuiyan was married, but had been staying as a bachelor while working under a local construction firm. The personal enmity out of the family feud might be the reason behind the attack.
