A father sold his two daughters to a broker and a deal was done to sell his third daughter for around Rs 20,000 in the district.

The incident came to light after 17-year-old elder girl — whose deal for sale was done at a cost of Rs 20,000 — lodged an FIR against her father and broker Arjun Lal, who hailed from Himatnagar under Sujangarh police station of Uttar Pradesh.

According to the FIR, elder sister of the victim said her father had sold her 17-year-old sister to Arjun Lal for Rs 20,000. The broker got his son Raju Jain married to his sister.

A few days after the incident, his 15-year-old younger sister was also sold by his father to the same broker for Rs 15,000. After making this deal, Arjun went to Uttar Pradesh with his younger sister. Now her father also wants to sell her to Arjun. She said as soon as she realised this, she ran to her aunt’s house and informed this to Meral police. On September 20, Arjun reached Siho village.

In this regard, Meral police station SDPO, Garhwa Awadh Kumar Yadav said based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered against the father and the broker under IPC sections of 341/323/366//376/370/506 /34 and sections under POCSO Act. Police have arrested both accused and sent them to judicial custody. Further investigation is underway.
