Man runs from pillar to post to prove he is alive

In a virtual re-run of the case of Pankaj tripathi starter Kagaj where several persons run from pillar to post to prove that they are alive, Garhwa witnessed a similar case where a senior citizen was declared "dead" in government records and is struggling to prove to officials that he is indeed alive.

One Somaru Bhuiyan a sexagenarian resident of village Udaipur under Ramkanda police station, who is unable to walk or sit properly came to the municipality office with help of his relative narrating his plight before the officials in a shaky old voice said “Sahab mein zinda hoon, meri pension chalu karwa dijiye (Sir I’m alive, start my pension)."

Somaru used to get a monthly pension of Rs 600 from the bank, but his pension was stopped in 2018 as he was declared dead on papers. Now Somaru does not even have money for medicines for his illness and is unable to understand how he could have been declared 'dead'. Somaru is now waiting for justice.

Vice Chairman of District Board Satyanarayan Yadav said that" the matter has come to my knowledge I informed Garhwa DC about this matter.  DC instructed Ramkanda BDO to start the pension showing him alive within 2 days.
