In what appears to be a stern note to party cadres, the State leadership of the BJP has removed Amit Tiwary, who has been cold shouldered on charges of doing anti-party work in the Panki bypoll, from party’s Palamu district chief and handed over the baton to a renowned lawyer Narender Kumar Pandey. Known for his balanced approach and his non-controversial image Pandey has before him a huge task said his party men.
BJP sources said this is very rare when a district president has been dropped on charges of indulging in anti-party work in times of election. Sources said Amit Tiwary paid a price for which the state leadership was no less responsible.
In Panki bypoll, State leadership banked upon lal Suraj who was given an entry into the party fold just 72 hours before the day of nomination while Tiwary was made to sulk despite his giving a strong fight in the last Assembly election in Panki.
lal Suraj enhanced his poll figure on the lotus symbol but was far behind from Congress’ Bittu Singh.
Party sources agreed that vote pattern calculation with Sraj at the centre went upside down for the BJP in this Panki by poll. However Amit Tiwary was made to bleed literally through his nose for Suraj’s defeat.
Pandey said, “The party has given me this task. I will work hard for this. I need co operation of one and all.” Pandey is a very busy lawyer in the Palamu bar association and it will be a big task for him to find time for all these party works.
Sources said the first task before Pandey is to keep the flock here united. Internal rift mar the district unit here. Second is a balanced rope walk between the older generation leaders and the smart phone holding generation of party cadres.
