Ranchi Police arrested a person in connection with a case of molestation of a female employee of the hotel near RIADA Bhawan at Lowadih under Namkom Police Station in Ranchi District on Thursday.
Ranchi Deputy SP Headquarter 1, Amit Renu, informed that after taking prompt action, Namkom Police arrested the accused Gaurav Rai alias Shera in connection with a case of rape of a female employee of the hotel near RIADA Bhawan in Lowadih under Namkum Police Station. The arrested accused Gaurav is a resident of Lowadih under Namkom Police Station.
“During interrogation, the accused admitted his involvement and the Police sent Gaurav to Birsa Munda Central Jail after presenting him before the court,” said Renu.
The Dy SP said that Guarav with his friend called the woman on the deserted road near the cemetery situated at RIADA Bhawan near Lowadih. When she came alone, Gaurav first robbed her mobile and then, both of them forcibly raped her on the spot. After that, they forcibly picked the woman from the spot and took her to the friend’s hotel, where the accused with his friend again made a physical relationship with the woman and then, they absconded from the hotel leaving the woman in the hotel, he added.
“After this, the female employee came out of the hotel late at 2 o'clock in the night and reached her house and informed her family about the incident. Then, she reached the Police Station with family members and informed the Police. In view of the seriousness of the case, the police took quick action and arrested the accused Gaurav.
The accused has criminal antecedents and is involved in several cases of crime,” said Renu.
