A 32-year-old man was sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment by a court after finding him guilty of sexually exploiting a 12-year-old girl at Zone No 10 in Birsanaga under Sidhgora thana area in August last year.
The court of additional district judge V, Subhash, also slapped a penalty of Rs 25,000 on the convict, failing which he will have to undergo imprisonment for six more months in the prison.
In this connection, the court had on Wednesday convicted the accused, Uday Gagrai, and had fixed today for the pronouncement of term of punishment.
Gagrai who is a driver by profession would stay in the same house on rent as the victim and her parents.
According to prosecution, sometime in April last year Gagrai had gagged the girl and pushed in the common bathroom where he had raped her. He had threatened that he would kill his parents if she would reveal anything to them. Since that day he continued to rape her for the next four months whenever he got a chance. But eventually, the victim felt strong pain in the abdomen, leading her parents to take to a medical clinic. The doctor did an ultrasound of the abdomen and found that she was pregnant by four months.
