Making Ranchi a model, my priority: Ajay Tirkey

Published on:

Some people are burdened with responsibilities very early in their life but instead of complaining they turn their life around by sheer grit and determination. Mayoral candidate Ajay Tirkey is one such man who faced a lot of hardship after the death of his father but he never shied away from his responsibility and discharged his duty with unwavering resolve.

Tirkey believes that his life and attitude towards it has made him a man worthy for the post of Mayor, Ranchi Municipal Corporation. “I have succeeded against all odds and that makes me suitable for the post of Mayor,” said Tirkey.

Though, Tirkey was associated with a political party, he claims that he continued to work for the society and never mixed politics with development. “I was associated with BJP and worked for the jobs entrusted to me by the party however I maintained distance from the party while doing development work,” said Tirkey. For Tirkey a Mayor is post which is non-political in nature.

The master of plan of Ranchi seems to have gained currency in the Mayoral election. Making Ranchi a top model town in India is what Tirkey is aspires for. “My plan includes making a blue print for the development of Ranchi and ensuring that it is implemented,” said Tirkey.

Tirkey has come up with an innovative idea to ensure that councillors do the job they will be selected for. He will start programme named “mayor aapke dwaar” (Mayor at your door) to connect the post of Mayor with the people of Ranchi. “There is a communication gap between a Mayor and people and this is the basic reason most of the problem remains unsolved. The programme will fill the gap,” Tirkey said.

The issues concerning a ward exhibited a remarkable degree of consistency in the last couple of years. For Tirkey, character of a chief determines the behaviour of others associated with him and that is the reason why most of the issues are either addressed partially or neglected completely. “A Mayor has to be good then only he can make his councillors work. I can assure you that I belong to a tribe of people who prefer action on the ground not hollow promises,” said Tirkey.

Tirkey opined that a problem has two sides, implementation and resources and he can solve both problems.
