Ex-Chief Minister and Senior BJP leader Arjun Munda has suggested policy makers of the State to knit industrial policies which benefitted labourers the most. On the occasion of releasing a book named ‘Industrial labour Policy and Economic Development of India’ on Wednesday at his residence, Munda said that states like Jharkhand needed to take extra care of labourers and labour laws, as around 78 percent of the populace in State were labourers in their own fields and businesses.
“labour is not only a source of bread and butter of a labourer, but if directed positively and supported properly, it can also bring the utmost creativity out of a labourer or person, changing him for rest of the life. Moreover, economic dynamics of the world has changed and we will have to frame industrial policies according to changing times. We have not been up to the mark on that front till now,” said Munda.
Written by Jharkhand Rai University Assistant Professor in Department of Management Dr Ashfaque Alam, the 185-odd pages book has been divided in six chapters ranging from Introduction to Industrial Relation Policy to Critical View on Indian labour Policy. The book offers both bouquet and brickbats to the industrial labour policy in the country so far and suggests some workable approaches in policy according to changing times.
“Any government needs to understand while framing industrial labour policy that harming honey-bee after extracting honey or in process will only result in no honey accumulation next time. Unfortunately, many of our policies do the same, only keep extracting honey with no care of honey-bee. This will either result in either honey bee moving to some other location, or attacking the extractor. Ironically, we have started facing both altogether,” said Munda where Jharkhand Rai University Vice-Chancellor Savita Sengar, Ranchi University Registrar Amar Kumar Chowdhary, Arjun Munda’s wife Meera Munda, Jharkhand Minority Commission ex-Chairman Dr Shahid Akhtar, Jharkhand Information and library Association Shiva Prakash who is also Director of publishing company of the book, lord’s Publishing House, and other intellectuals were also present.
