Jharkhand is all set to launch major initiatives at the ‘Make in India’ week to attract global investors for an international summit that will be tentatively organised in the State in November 2016 as a long drawn series of events is also on cards to carry the momentum that is likely to be built during the week long programme which will kick off at Mumbai from February 13.
Notably, the department of Industry is working up to leverage benefits of the ‘Make in India’ platform and put up an overhauled image for investment backed by regulations and policies framed in recent times.
“Our efforts will begin from ‘Make in India’ week. A show would begin from the platform as it offers us an opportunity to show the world what we can provide and how we can provide and after this event we will launch wholehearted efforts for a global investor summit,” said Deputy Secretary of Industry, Madhav Sharan Singh.
The department of Industry in collaboration with their knowledge partner ‘Ernest & Young’ has planned a series of road shows in subsequent phase after the ‘Make in India’ week. Around four to five road shows have been planned by the global consultancy firm in major cities to educate investors about the improved investment climate of the State. Singh added that similar shows could be organised outside country as well.
“These things are usually organised in major cities. Mumbai and Delhi are on the list then we may organise shows at Chennai or even Pune,” said a member of the knowledge partner. Significantly, the department of Industry is aiming to pull very huge investment by convincing potential investors about various mechanism including the ‘single window system’, land bank, industrial policy and above all Jharkhand’s third position on ‘ease of doing business’ parameter.
“Our target could run into lakhs of crore. If we get even 40 per cent of what we are targeting then it will be good for us,” maintained Singh adding “our knowledge partner however believes that 30 per cent is a good target if we can achieve it”.
The global consultancy firm is carefully selecting companies to approach for investor summit and is preparing a profile of companies who would take interest in investing capital in Jharkhand.
