The appeal of Secretary, Human Resource Development Ministry, Jharkhand, seems to have worked. About 80 per cent of non-teachings have joined the office after going through this appeal at Vinoba Bhave University.

The secretary had appealed to the non-teachings to come back to their duty and had assured them that no disciplinary action will be taken against them.

The non-teaching staffs of the universities of Jharkhand are on strike since February 19 which is going to complete 90 days on Sunday. SP Sinha, Registrar, Vinoba Bhave University, informed that out of 19 constituent colleges in 13 colleges all the non-teachings have returned while from rest of the six colleges mixed report has has been recieved. In rest of the colleges 50 to 80 per cent of staffs have joined their duties. On Friday we had sent a report to the ministry and on Saturday after 5 ‘O’ clock we will again send revised data.

In the university campus it is in talks that the non-teachings who have joined duty are aware of this fact that after 90 days of absentee they can be removed as per law. The other cause which is in talks is that a larger group was now feeling that the state level office bearers of their association are not involving them in preparing future plans.

At the VBU headquarter about 75 per cent of non-teachings employees have resumed their duties but the office bearers of the association are still on the path of agitation. Kamal Kishore Prasad, Secretary, VBU Staff Association, told The Pioneer that he was in police custody, at Ranchi stadium and would be discussing about their next move thereafter.
