A major fire broke out at the Hot Strip Mill (HSM) in Bokaro Steel Plant (BSl) on Tuesday afternoon; no injuries or loss of life was reported in the incident, said an official. At 12.40 pm, we were working on the site, suddenly fire broke out in the three electronic transformers installed outside at the HSM for its finishing stand, said an eyewitness.
The blaze broke out in transformer after a technical fault. This transformer controls the HSM and contains huge oil. After the stiff struggle of fire tenders, the fire got controlled in several hours which created a huge loss in crore. Right now its’ quite difficult to access the actual loss but it may be assumed in lakhs,” said a BSl official.
“After the fire, production at Mill has been stopped. We have constituted a team to investigate the reason behind the accident”, said MK Dhan Chief of Communication BSl.
