Maharshtrian woman finally meets her family in Latehar

A Maharashtrian woman Mitha Bai Kumbh Phaley of Kolegar village under Aurangabad district of Maharashtra became a victim of human error during the first lockdown announced in March.

Sources said this woman wanted to reach Aurangabad during the lockdown in March but some Bihar's Aurangabad labourers whom she met thought her to be of their Bihar's Aurangabad and brought her down to Aurangabad close to Jharkhand’s Palamu district. Phaley thus reached Aurangabad of Bihar instead of her own Aurangabad of Maharashtra.

District public relation officer Latehar Rohit Kandulna said the woman finally landed in Latehar after spending time in the Covid care center at Barikhap in Balumath.

Kandulna said she was lodged in Gurukul of Latehar district after the quarantine.

DC Latehar Abu Imran heard of her plight and got in touch with people in Maharashtra for her return home. Imran spoke to one Samir Wakhde and Anjuman Islamia besides the district magistrate of Aurangabad and the road began to open for this woman to return home.

On Sunday the son of the woman Pandurang Baburao Kumbh Phaley met her mother at Latehar along with the sarpanch Parmeshwar Topey and chowkidar Anil Bowery and DC Latehar Abu Imran was too glad to hand over the woman to her son.

Kandulna said the woman could not tell as to how she landed in Latehar. She knew Marathi, which our men did not understand but our men knew she should not feel any bad or neglected here and this woman too understood by then that she was with humble people of Jharkhand Latehar.

Sources said Coronavirus has caused many such upheaval in many a life for no fault of their own.

Sources said Latehar district social welfare Officer Preeti Sinha is credited to brief Imran first about the ordeal of Mitha Bai Kumbh Phaley, who then never looked back but overcame all odds for a reunion of the mother with her son.
