Mahagama MLA raises issue of closed schools before JAC

Published on:

Congress’ Mahagama MLA Deepika Pandey Singh during the meeting of Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) on Friday raised the issue of three schools of Santhal Pargana that have been fighting from the past couple of years to get the permission to run the school once again.

These schools namely Janjatiya High School (Godda), (ii). Suraj Mandal High School (Dumka) and Harijan Residential High School in Godda were established during the period of undivided Bihar and these schools were running on the basis of permission issued by the government.

Recently, JAC withdrew the permission on the ground that these schools don’t have land. However, JAC had also withdrawn permission to madarshas also but later on the permission was granted except to these schools.

The MLA pointed out that due to the stringent SP Tenancy Act there is difficulty in purchasing land on the name of the school. However, these schools are situated in a sufficient chunk of land under peaceful and legal possession of the school. She added that these schools are providing education to the poor of the locality. If schools are closed it will adversely affect students of that area as well as it will bring unemployment.

The JAC on this said that a decision in the larger interest and society will be taken as these schools have satisfactory academic records.
