Maha Samiti meet held to ensure peaceful Durga Puja

Durga Baree in Daltonganj will be performing its 105 Durga Puja this year.  However a fair going to be organized near the Durga Baree is giving anxious moments to the puja organizers here in this  holiest and prestigious Durga Baree.

Sumeet Da raised this issue of fair ( read mela) in the high level meeting of Kendriya Durga Puja Maha Samiti held on Tuesday October 9 under the presidentship of Durga Johri where Sumeet Da said “ All that we want is that there should not be a blare out of loud speakers in full volume in the mela as then it will interfere with our calm and quiet puja and will disturb devotees too.”

Johri said he would take up this issue with the mela organizers, civil officials and the police and ensure that there is no noise menace there.

At the meeting there came up another sensitive issue of communal ferment which crops up every mass festival like Ramnavmi, Muharram and Durga Puja at Berya More in Daltonganj where two communities live in peace all through the year but during occasions of festivity the two communities just see red at each other and a kind of distrust prevails then.

A member of the Kendriya Durga Puja Maha Samiti on conditions of anonymity said in the meeting of Tuesday, “ There are some people of other community who  just believe in creating disquiet and such people be under the scanner of administration.”

Johri said “Civil and police administrations are well aware of the sensitivity of this Berya More. He further said there are more such locations where peace and harmony had become fragile in such festivity of each other community in the past.”

As regards electricity supply in the Durga Puja pandals one member said electricity department officials are never sincere on this count. Pandal people want legitimate power connection but electricity officials just buy time for this as a result hooking is done as a last resort.

On this issue Johri said “ This Maha Samiti is in touch with electricity officials and soon there will come out a solution to this problem. We have asked officials to ensure 24x7 supply of power during the last 4 days of this 10 day long maha festival beginning Shashtee to Dussehra day the tenth of festival.”

Parsad is to be given in paper cups not in plastic ones said Johri adding this is to be more eco friendly as there will be dustbins  near pandals where leftovers can be thrown in to save the town Daltonganj from being littered with dirt and filth.
