Two magnificent tents side by side, both house the congregation of more than 200 artists of handicrafts with their handmade products from across the country, fantastic display of terracotta, jute products, Mithila paintings, worked saris, play station for children and what not.

Above these creativities the mesmerising Indian bollywood instrumental being played in the background. The settings could not have been much better in the Morhabadi Maidan as it hosts two mega events - the 10-day ‘Jharkhand Trade Fair’ and ‘Hastshilpa Mahotsava’.

One of the tents houses the Jharkhand Trade Fair – where 120 stalls have been established by same number of businessmen from across the hostel. The other tent also houses same number of stalls wherein handicrafts artists from across country have displayed their products.

One of the businessmen from Uttar Pradesh says, “It’s great to be here as a businessmen. People, though today have not come here in droves but as the day passes and more and more number of people come to know about the fair the business will certainly go up.” He had put on sale the products made of sandal.

The organisers of Jharkhand Trade Fair Yuva Pragati Sangathan, an NGO said that it was their desire to give platform to the handicrafts artists from across the country that we have organised this fair.

One of the businessmen from Madhya Pradesh who was selling chocolates made of fruits juice and pulp had no complain with the comparatively low foot fall. “Yes on Saturday the place remained lesser frequented but the more the fair is written about talked about people will come,” he said.

Talking of the fire safety in the fair secretary of the organising committee Rohit Chourasia said that they had put in place 20 fire extinguishers in the fair.
The most striking part of the trade fair is that the entire management of the fair is being taken care of the team of 12 young citizens of the city.

“This is absolutely non-profit venture. We have kept `5 for entry fee for the fair. It is just to meet the amount that we have spent in arranging the resources of the fair,” Rohit said,

The two congregations were inaugurated by the former deputy Chief Minister Sudesh Mahto on Friday evening. The 10-day affair will culminate on April 22.
