Tribal State Jharkhand has found just a single member eligible to be inducted into the central team of the Bharatiya Janata Party. luies Marandi, tribal and woman face from Dumka who has also worked previously in the party’s working committee under the regime of erstwhile BJP chief Nitin Gandaki has been made secretary when President Rajnath Singh on Sunday came with the list of new office bearers in New Delhi.

The decision to ignore string of senior leaders hailing from the State for significant posts such as vice-president or general secretary has sent disappointing signals down the party line especially when Jharkhand is set to undergo Assembly polls sooner rather than later.

However State BJP leaders remained non-critical about the decision of the party’s top brass. “Our senior leaders have taken the decision based on their calculations and I am no one to question that. In my mind possibility for early Assembly as well as lok Sabha polls is there in Jharkhand and they would have thought that State leaders should focus here instead of national issues,” said State BJP president Ravindra Rai.

The 76-member team has 12 vice-presidents, 10 general secretaries, 15 secretaries and seven spokespersons, besides a 12-member Central Parliamentary Board, a 19-member Central Election Committee and a five-member Central Disciplinary Committee.

Though, another office bearer of the party admitted that the decision was indeed surprising for them. “There were several leaders those could have found place in the team. But the decision would have been taken while keeping into mind the immediate political situation developing at national and State levels,” said one.
