Calling on the voters to get rid of the burden of nation, Congress, BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi announced in a historic rally in Ranchi on Sunday that the upcoming lok Sabha polls will become a mass movement against corruption and bad governance in the country. Modi said that the nation needed good intentions for development today but the Congress did not even have honesty in its intentions.

"We have to take a pledge for development. I believe the 2014 elections will turn into a mass movement against bad governance and a war will begin to establish good governance in the country. I urge all of you to take the mantra of development. Ensure future of the youths and give priority to security and dignity of mothers and sisters. This will lead to development," said Modi.

"In order to develop the country, we need strong determination and not only hollow promises. And the intentions should also be sacred but they (the Congress) do not even have morality and honesty," he added. The Gujarat Chief Minister was addressing a mammoth gathering of over 1.5 lakh people of Jharkhand, thousands of whom had travelled from far-flung corners of the State to listen to their leader at the Prabhat Tara Ground of HEC on the outskirts of the city here.

"Raure man ke Johar (May salutations to all of you) said Modi in local Nagpuri language — a message that won hearts of the locals — when the leader began his speech in Ranchi. He went on greet people of Jharkhand calling the State 'a land of brave people' naming local freedom fighters like Birsa Munda, Sido Kanhu, Chand-Bhairav, Thakur Vishwanath Sahshdeo, Nilamber Pitamber among others.

The Prime Minister in making then expressed astonishment over poverty in Jharkhand. "If the detail of Jharkhand's natural wealth are given to prominent economists of the world. We would get a common answer from them that the State can be equal to some of the most affluent nations of the world. Then why poverty in Jharkhand is increasing day-by-dayIJ Why States that were made along with Jharkhand are on the fast track of development and Jharkhand is notIJ Why poverty is breeding in the lap of affluent StatesIJ These answers have to be given by those who have been running the country after Independence," Modi said.

Commenting on the age of the State, the prime ministerial candidate said that 13 to 18 years was the most crucial period in the life of an individual and so was the case for the State of Jharkhand as it has completed 13 years. He asked the people not to lose this opportunity for overall development of the State as the five years would prove most important for shaping the future of Jharkhand.

Talking directly to the audiences from State, Modi asked, "For development of the State Delhi's help is required. Do you trust the people sitting in DelhiIJ" A big "No" was the response from the masses. And then Modi urged the people to gift all 14 lok Sabha seats to the BJP in the upcoming polls. He also assured all necessary help to Jharkhand if the party comes to power at the Centre.

Modi targeted the Congress for lack of accountability towards the citizens of the country and termed it as a burden for the nation. "They have absolutely no accountability. They come, make Aakashvani (Heavenly announcements) and disappear.  The Government sitting at Delhi is paralysed. Do not have a bit of honesty left in them. They should first answer how did so much corruption took place in Jharkhand in the lap of them (Congress)," he said.

He also raised corruption in the coal mines in Jharkhand and resultant problems. "Coal is abundant in Jharkhand but Jharkhand gets power from outside. If they had vision they could have set up plants here and produced surplus electricity.  There is huge corruption mining and industries sector here. Hundreds of plants have been closed. Thousands of people have become unemployed. If you give work to youths through skill development they will not go out to seek jobs," he added.

Jharkhand is also endowed with so much of natural fauna and flora with abundant rainfall still people do not get water for their daily needs and irrigation purposes, the leader said adding that the water facilities could have been easily made available through proper water management systems on the model of Gujarat but the corrupt system here did even think of it once.

"The people of the country today need development not divisive politics, skill development instead of false promises, security instead of communalism and farmers need electricity instead of cast-based politics. We have to kill these evils and tread the path of development. lets take this pledge and make the nation a beautiful place to live and spread prosperity among the masses," the leader roared in front of the fanatical crowd and concluded his speech with a humble Johar to the people of Jharkhand.
