lS 2019: BJP MPs asked to identify 5 volunteers

Published on:

As time nears to the next general elections, all the BJP members of Parliament representing Jharkhand have been assigned with a special task. The members have to call, indentify and recommend five names of committed volunteers from their constituencies to the party top brass within certain timeframe, purportedly to work as direct link with the party’s think tank.

Informing about this, an MP belonging to the State showed the message conveyed to him from the party headquarters directing him to going for the talent hunt. “I received the message from party management and I am told that the Prime Minister and the party president want this to happen as soon as possible. Based on the message, I have told my staff to spread the message among my workers and activists seeking their detailed profile. As soon as I receive some names and after verifying their credentials, I would forward it to the party,” said the MP on Friday.

The message has been conveyed to all the 12 lok Sabha and two Rajya Sabha members the ruling party has in the State. At present the requisites are about details of the person named as volunteers including his or her association with the party, having computer proficiency, education, profession at present and above all age not more than 25 years.

Though, no clear purpose of selecting and recommending the five “active and educated” volunteers is made out, but it is understood that the party think tank wants to empanel a fleet

of committed workforce well ahead of the next lok Sabha elections.

“The system pressed in is coming from the party involving top leadership. Purpose has not been conveyed to us but looking at the criteria laid out, it should be creating a team which would be given tasks to build opinion of the voters in the favour of the BJP by explaining good practices adopted by the Government at the Center. Also, the party wants to create a direct link between the organisation and the electorates down the order,” said a member.

Following the directive, some of the members have already started searching for the names. “I have sought resumes from the active boys having fairly long association with the party and working on ground level for quite sometime. Their bio-data fulfilling the criteria set would be scanned and then forwarded to the party headquarter,” said Rajya Sabha member Mahesh Poddar.

BJP’s lok Sabha member representing Khunti constituency Karia Munda has started working in that direction. “The missive would have come in last two-three days though I have not seen it albeit I have heard about this. Soon the process of identifying the names would be completed as I have no dearth of committed workers and volunteers in my constituency,” said the eight-time MP.
