The lPG domestic cylinder consumers of Hazaribagh district will get the subsidy amount transferred in their bank accounts through direct benefit transfer scheme. It was informed by the district supply officer Xavier Herenj who had directed the owners of gas agencies to submit the details of UID number and bank account number of their consumers by July 15.

DSO said that Hazaribagh is among those chosen districts where this DBT scheme is going to be introduced in first phase. last week he called a meeting of all the seven owners of gas agencies of Hazaribagh district in which he gave the above direction. We discussed about the present status of KYC and informed the agency owners that from September onwards the consumers will pay you the market price of the cylinder and after getting the supply of cylinder they will get the subsidy amount transferred in their bank accounts.

In Hazaribagh district itself, there are 67,049 registered lPG consumers who get their cylinder through the seven agencies spread across the district. last year as per the Government order the agencies collected detailed information about their consumers. In KYC form there was a column in which the consumers were said to give their bank account number and with the form photocopies of Aadhar Card were to be given.

As per the information given by the owners in that meeting more than 60 per cent consumers have submitted the photocopy of their Aadhar Card with the KYC form as identity proof. It means that the agencies will have to collect the UID numbers of their 40 per cent consumers. The consumers can deposit the photocopy of receipt of their UID registration too in their gas agencies.

The district administration had given them the time of 15th July for providing the UID number and bank account number of lPG consumers and the gas agencies are trying their best to submit the requisite information of their maximum consumers to the district administration by this date. But some owners said to Pioneer that they will pray for one fortnight time to furnish information of their entire consumers. On one hand it is now fixed that the lPG consumers will have to pay full price of the cylinder from September ‘13 and they will get back the subsidy amount after getting supply of cylinder while on another hand district administration is preparing to include kerosene subsidy under DBT scheme.

DSO said that he has directed the marketing officers and shopkeepers of PDS shops to collect the bank account number and UID number of kerosene oil purchaser from their shop so that kerosene subsidy can also be included under DBT. Since new ration cards have yet not been distributed so he had directed to proceed on the basis of old ration cards.
