Low-key New Year celebrations in City

Published on:

Owing to the pandemic many party spots in the City have decided to end the year on a quiet note this time. While leading restaurants have opted to host low-key celebrations for a limited crowd, hotels have decided to not host any year end events.

On December 31, Prana Lounge in Harmu is set to welcome the New Year with foot tapping music played by DJ X Square Music from Bangalore and the party is slated to begin at 8 pm.

“Unlike every year we have decided to do away with a common dance floor and for those who wish to dance can do so around their tables only. The charges have been fixed at Rs 8000 for a couple while single men and women will have to pay Rs 5000 each which will include food and beverages. To limit the crowds, passes are available only through reference at the restaurant and also digitally on a first come first serve basis. The number of entries has been limited to 50 as against 70 people till last year. The New Year party will be on the rooftop while the restaurant will be operational for walk-ins,” said the owner Ashutosh Bajaj.

The Ruin House in Morabadi will have DJ Su and Fakri band from New Delhi to entertain the crowds. “The entry charges have been fixed at Rs 6000 per head which will include food, drinks and entertainment. The entry is restricted on pre booked passes only and no more than 200 people will be allowed at the venue. The theme for the evening is Fernweh which means an urge to travel. Based on the theme face masks will be provided to the visitors. For foodies live counters serving Japanese, oriental and Lebanese cuisine will be served,” said the owner Anirudh Budhia.

One of the premier hotels of the City, Capitol Residency has decided to host a gala dinner. “We have received numerous family queries for December 31 and will be organising a dinner with some live music and food. The charges have been fixed at Rs 1500 per person while alcohol will be charged extra. As against last year where we would also conduct family bonding games, this time due to Covid- 19 no such thing is being done. Our banquets are available for booking of private parties of about 50- 60 people,” said Karanveer Bhatia, Director Capitol Residency.
