Minister for Social Welfare, Child Development Project and Minority Affairs louis Marandi has assured to take up the issue of zonal research centre of Birsa Agricultural University located here in Palamu's Chiyanki. The Minister said “I have seen it while coming over here in Daltonganj by road and I will speak to the authorities of BAU Ranchi to up grade it”. Sources said the zonal research centre here is carrying out research on brinjal which is the staple food for the rich and the poor here. Guava and mangoes of this research centre are two other things where improved facilities can give more better yield.
Palamu BJP MP V D Ram too pleaded with the Minister for the up gradation of facilities for agro research scientists here. louis Marandi was here in Daltonganj on Thursday May 28 to launch the Krishi Rath. louis conceded that water starved Palamu needs effective and better surface water or rain water management saying “I have instructed DC Palamu to prepare a fleet of small water bodies to tide over this crisis of water here”.
She said with funds from disaster management which Palamu has already received worth more than a a crore water bodies like talab, pokhar, ahar be built for the retention of the rain waters. As for big dams/check dams the Palamu administration is to take a call on it said louis. A couple of BJP women leaders apprised the Minister of the pitiable condition of hostels for girls especially the one located near the Palamu DIG office where in one girls' hostel the roof is precarious as its slabs give way every now and then. The Minister asked DC Palamu K Srinivasan to get the hostels renovated to which Srinivasan said ' In two days time the estimate of it would be ready'.
