A national lok Adalat on MGNREGA schemes, land acquisition and land revenue was held on Saturday in the Daltonganj Civil Court under the chairmanship of the Principal District and Sessions Judge Palamu civil courts KK Srivastava and his battery of judicial officers including the Secretary of DlSA Uttam Anand.
The president of Palamu Bar Association Balram Tiwary was also present on the occasion. Sources said that these three issues are the ‘pet issues’ of Naxal outfits — be it the CPI Maoists, PlFI, TPC or JJMP. A national lok adalat on these crucial issues in this left wing extremist-hit Palamu is a whiff of relief, said a lawyer.
The issues including migration of labourers, lingering court cases in land revenue and land acquisition matters are the bane of Palamu, said sources.
As the three issues MGNREGA, land Acquisition and land revenue are straightway concerned with the executive side the DDC B Tatma, additional district magistrate Dadel, SDO SK Verma and the nodal officer for MGNREGA Bhagirath took part in lok adalat.
The principal district and sessions judge Srivastava said five benches were set up. One of the benches was a Special one with two ADJs and the CJM on it to sort out any lingering issue arising out of these matter. On the land Acquisition front, the national lok adalat here made a significant stride as in this adalat eleven people whose lands were acquired were given compensation.
Stating this, DlSA secretary Uttam Anand informed that 11 cheques were released to the beneficiaries on the occasion. Sources said the status of MGNREGA in Palamu is limping for various reasons including inadequate monitoring to payment of wages. As many as 2, 983 job cards are under preparation for registration and demand for employment came to 3,852, he added.
