A 24–year-old woman was killed and a few others sustained burns when lightning struck them while they were working at a field in Pachamba village under the Saria police station of Giridih on Sunday morning. The deceased has been identified as Kalima Khatoon. The injured were rushed to Sadar hospital and are said to be out of danger, sources said. According to reports, the deceased and her relatives had engaged five women to till their field in the rain around 9 am. Injured women were working with Kalima Khatoon. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning accompanied with thunder stuck and Kalima fell down and some women were got unconscious, locals said. On being informed others villagers rushed to the spot to find Kalima dead.
