Even after the direction given under Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan, lightening conductors in most of the primary and middle schools in the district are yet to get the coverage. In some schools lightening conductor are installed, but have been stolen and some are non-functional.
According to available report, altogether 883 Middle School and Primary School situated in the hilly area were given directions to install lightening conductor. Out of which the Department has been able to install the lightning conductors in only 124 schools.
According to sources, several installed lightening conductors are not functioning properly and several have been stolen.
After issued a letter vide memo no.7-08/2013(699) Jharkhand Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan directed the Garhwa district administration to prepare installing lightening
conductors. Around 30 deaths are reported every year in the district because of lightning strike.
