The weather conditions being experienced by the residents of Jharkhand are likely to continue for the next few days as well. Light to moderate showers, thunderstorms and hail considered normal for this time of the year are being predicted till March 17 across the State.

“During the pre monsoon season which is normal for this time of the year, an anti cyclone has formed in the Bay of Bengal on March 10 because of which there is a lot of moisture incursion. There is a trough present in Rajasthan and its neighbouring states. A system of western disturbance is also active. Wind convergence is also present as on the upper and middle levels of the troposphere there are westerly winds while on the lower level easterly winds are present. All these factors together are causing rainfall across Jharkhand,” said Deputy Director, MET Centre Ranchi, Abhishek Anand.

As per the MET Observatory Centre, Ranchi for the next few days from March 12 to March 17, rainfall accompanied with thunder storms, lighting, gusty winds and hailstorms will occur in most parts of the State.

On March 12, light to moderate showers are predicted for north west, central and southern parts of the State. On March 13 wide spread showers accompanied with thunderstorm and lighting is expected across Jharkhand. Parts of southern and central Jharkhand will witness light showers from March 14 to March 17. No heavy showers are predicted during this time across the State.

According to the weathermen, because of the cloud cover present, the maximum temperature which had reached around 30 degree Celsius has dropped by a couple of degrees. The minimum temperature has also increased and is being recorded at around 16 to 17 degree Celsius.

“When it is cloudy, the maximum temperature generally drops by a few degrees and the minimum temperature rises. Hence, during the day people generally tend to feel more cold as compared to at night,” added the official.

According to the weather bulletin issued on March 11, for the next few days the minimum temperature in Ranchi and its surrounding areas will be around 16 -17 degree Celsius while the maximum temperature will be at 25 or 26 degree Celsius.
