Bharatiya Suraj Dal today stated that Advocate General Binod Poddar has questioned the locus standi of the party president PK Sidhharhtha to represent the party during the hearing of a PIl filed by it in Jharkhand High Court as nobody who was not enrolled as a lawyer can argue the cases on behalf of a society or a company.

“Questioning the very locus standi of Siddharth to represent Bharatiya Suraaj Dal in court, Advocate General, Add Advocate General and another companion advocates sprang to their feet saying that nobody who is not an enrolled lawyer can argue the case on behalf of a society or a company,” stated an official release of Suraj Dal.

The PIl relates to diversion of 2500 acres of forest land for non-forest use of Pakri-Barwadih coal mining project in utter violation of the Forest Rights Act and Forest Act Rules by going to the extent of forging signatures of villagers. It is also alleged that the Government was trying to acquire the land of private farmers by sidestepping the new land acquisition law of 2013.

Hence, it was demanded through the PIl that the mining must be stopped forthwith, as it was causing serious protests and police firing repeatedly.
