There was a legal awareness camp on drug abuse here in Daltonganj today under the stewardship of the principal district and sessions judge Niraj Kumar Srivastav when live report of cases of drug addicts came up right through the legal awareness camp when a mukhiya, name withheld, told the principal district and sessions judge Niraj Kumar Srivastav that "There are drug addicts in my panchayat and I want facility for their de addiction."
It came not as any stunning one but a ground report everyone is trying here to push it back in the carpet of ignorance said sources. Palamu is slipping into drugs cover slowly but steadily admitted police sources.
The PDJ Srivastav had also no inkling of it at all that this legal awareness camp on drug abuse would find 'live report of cases of drug abuse amidst the awareness campaign ongoing.'
Sources said in such legal awareness camps the speakers mostly judicial pundits clear their throats and show lungs power to drive their points home but here today in this legal awareness camp the problem of live drug abuse came in full public glare.
The PDJ knew the purpose of today's legal awareness camp on drug abuse was half complete as live report of drug abuse cases came up right in the awareness camp and the gathering in the camp heard it with eyes widened and lips opened.
This legal awareness camp proved no 'speech platform' with any highfalutin jargon on either drugs, its cause or its measures to tackle it.
The PDJ Srivastav was speaking about rampant cultivation of marijuana,poppy etc here in Palamu saying cases of NDPS act are rising, when a mukhiya in the gathering dropping a bombshell said about live cases of drug abuse in his panchayat.
This revelation of the mukhiya at once justified the utility of the legal awareness camp on drug abuse today here in Daltonganj which is witnessing its youths in every mohalla here getting addicted to drugs.
The report of live cases of drug abuse right in the midst of the awareness camp on drug abuse prompted the principal district and sessions judge Niraj Kumar Srivastav to immediately ask the civil surgeon Palamu Dr Anil Kumar to do the needful and the PDJ took word from the civil surgeon Palamu where the civil surgeon said that there would be a 10 bed de addiction centre in GNM building in the MMCH Daltonganj and for the reported cases of drug abuse the civil surgeon referred to the full fledged district mental health centre where is a noted mental health doctor Ashish Kumar.
Not contented with this categorical assurances of the civil surgeon Palamu, the PDJ told the concerned mukhiya" I would speak to you in the coming two days to know what happened to your live reporting of cases of drug abuse in your panchayat."
The PDJ Srivastav asked the gathering if they do farming then why they allow cultivation of poppy marijuana etc. He asked the gathering to stop it or resist such cultivation even if it is on the forest land.
The PDJ Srivastav said it's high time to put a full stop to the cultivation of marijuana poppy etc as only then the supply chain of it can be broken.
Drug lords of Punjab come here to collect the yield of psychotropic substances grown here added the PDJ.
The civil surgeon Palamu Dr Anil Kumar warned as to how whitener, cough syrup, anti allergic medicines, anti depressant medicines etc are sniffed or consumed which is a simple drug abuse.
The civil surgeon advised the parents to be attentive and understandable of their kids growing into adolescence as this stage is very vulnerable.
