After being held-up by procedural delays on account of holidays during the festive season, the Domestic Efficient lighting Programme (DElP) is all set to take effect in Jharkhand. The distribution of lED bulbs on subsidised rates will begin from November 30 in chosen districts of the State.
Around 7.80 lakh domestic consumers of Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam limited from the three districts meant to receive the project, Ranchi, Hazaribagh and Deoghar, will receive up to ten 9 watt lED bulbs on subsidised rates. The project was launched on 16th Statehood Day by Chief Minister for bringing down electricity consumption and lowering involved pollution levels.
It faced hurdles in the form of supply challenges during the days falling between Diwali and Chhath Puja, informed sources at Energy Efficiency Services limited (EESl), the private body facilitating the project in Jharkhand. This continued further in delays in tax registration and road permits which pushed the process back by a week.
But with all these factors out of the way, the beneficiaries can finally avail the benefits of the project. All they have to do is bring a copy of their latest electricity bill and identity proof to designated delivery centres and pay the subsidised amount.
