All is not well in the State unit of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Since the debacle in the Lok Sabha polls, the party here has been faced against leadership crisis. And the problems have only escalated with frequent changes at the helm. Now, after exit of former state president Gautam Sagar Rana and appointment of Abhay Singh in his position, the party continues to be divided over accepting authority from the new face.
The differences among party office bearers started increasing after RJD National General Secretary SM Qamar Alam dissolved the party State Working Committee and all concerned committees on June 10 and announced former State Youth president Abhay Singh as the party State unit president.
Singh was expelled for six years from the primary membership of the party two to three days on charges of indulging in anti-party activities.
Soon after the announcement of election results, the party State unit had called a working committee meeting on May 28 to discuss on various issues including reasons of defeat in the elections. The party had fielded two candidates in the State- Subhas Yadav from Chatra seat and Ghuran Ram from Palamu seat. Both the candidates lost the election from their respective seats.
On Thursday, senior leaders from all the districts of the party including former State Chief Gautam Sagar Rana held a meeting in the State capital to discuss on prevailing crisis in Jharkhand RJD.
All the speakers in the meeting announced unanimously that “inexperienced and incompetent” RJD President Abhay Singh is not acceptable at any cost.
Giving the information, former State RJD General Secretary Kailash Yadav said that national leaders nominated Abhay Singh, but he should be removed from ghis position soon. “After the result of the election, the decision of the State RJD Working Committee was ignored and kept on hold, while three persons were found to be involved in anti-party activities. The committee demanded expulsion of then youth RJD President Abhay Singh and Spokesperson Shailendra Sharma, but the national leadership of the party did not accept the recommendation,” said Yadav.
Yadav said that it was decided by all the members present during the meeting that under the current circumstances, a coordination committee of 51 members has been formed to address the severe crisis in the Jharkhand RJD.
“This committee will talk to national leaders like Lalu Prasad, Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav within one week,” said Yadav.
Singh, however, said that he was given the position on recommendation of party chief Lalu Prasad and his removal will be against the will of the former Bihar Chief Minister.
