Secretary to Chief Minister Sunil Barnwal cautioned the police officials of the State that criminals roaming unchecked after breaking the law will not be tolerated. He was reacting on unsatisfactory report presented by Hazaribagh police on the Barhi case during the review meeting of Jan Samvad Kendra on Tuesday.
The officials who remained apathetic to resolving the grievances registered with the Jan Samvad Kendra faced harsh remarks from the Secretary. He instructed the complaints registered with the public interface to be taken seriously and sorted in a stipulated time frame.
The issue of pond-digging at Deoghar was taken up seriously during the meeting. A show-cause notice was issued to an engineer over a case from Dhanbad. Barnwal was unhappy with the indifference shown by three departments regarding the worn out pipes in Vishnugarh of Hazaribagh. Stating that it is a matter if public interest, he instructed the responsible departments to look into it promptly.
The directions issued by the Secretary over issues related to law and order were complied with but left much to be desired. Many criminals were arrested and some surrendered in courts of law. In cases where police force was unable to apprehend the culprits, Barnwal instructed teams to be formulated to look into the matter.
