Twenty-two stolen bikes have been recovered in latehar. Police have nabbed 13 people and latter were remanded in judicial custody on Wednesday.
Confirming this SP latehar Anoop Birtharey said these 22 bikes were stolen over a period of one year. He further informed the bikes were stolen from Ranchi and Ramgarh.
The modus operandi of the bike lifters was very common. They used to leave the engine and chassis number un tampered but with registration they did all to hide the real registration number.
Birtharey said latehar police tumbled upon two bikes whose registration numbers were found fake. He said he asked his officials to work on this and then this gang was busted. The gang is well organized said SP.Among the 13 arrested are Anil and Ranjan who have been sent to latehar jail on Wednesday.
The kingpin is Kuldeep Baitha of Ranchi who is absconding. latehar police are in touch with the counterpart in Ranchi and Ramgarh.
latehar police are to approach DTO latehar Ranchi and Ramgarh for further corroboration of these 22 bikes being a stolen one.
