In a pre-Diwali swoop, the joint team of latehar’s Herhunj police and Palamu’s Panki police on Tuesday nabbed three road robbers at Radhadeeh in Panki and recovered looted goods.
Stating this, DSP Prabhat Ranjan Barwar said a massive road hold up was committed this November 3 at Kareemati and this road hold up had thrown the stretch Barwara Gara most vulnerable. In this festive season, people travelling on the stretch of this road were frightened and scared of getting looted or robbed of by these road robbers.
Barwar said the joint team of police drawn from latehar and Palamu districts remained in hot pursuit of the road robbers and this morning of Tuesday arrested three who have been identified as Jantar Oraon ( 30) Godani Yadav ( 20) and Arjun Oraon ( 35).
The joint police team have recovered two pistols of 315 bore, one muzzle loaded gun, six cartridges, nine cell phones and one camera and two watches. There was no recovery of cash. The criminals had struck hard on November 3 to earn a fast buck for themselves in this coming diwali but just a day before the festival they got caught said sources.
Barwar said the arrest and recovery of looted articles was a real challenge to the police.
As this Kareemati road falls in the contiguity of Herhunj in latehar district thecriminals used to snreak out and sneak in. Striking at this road was much easier because of the topography of the area and its infamy for being an extremist passage too said sources.
The road at Kareemati is like alphabet ‘ S’ and this used to givean edge to the criminals.
Asked if these three are first time offenders of law Barwar said ‘ Godani Yadav has to his name case of road loot’. About the two others Jantar Oraon and Arjun Oraon police are mugging hard to find case against them.
Incidentally the three arrested hail from Palamu. Jantar and Godani from Panki block while Arjun from Manatu block in Palamu. Palamu police remanded the three to judicial remand in the vacation court.
