The high-level committee formed to determine price of the land to be acquired for industrial and infrastructure project purposes in Santhal Pargana would be visiting the region to consult villagers of Godda and Sahibganj on Sunday.
Members of the committee headed by Chief Secretary Rajiv Gauba would hold meetings with local representatives, officials and landholders to know their say into it.
Giving some insight into the consultation, Additional Chief Secretary and Industry Secretary UP Singh said that he wanted to know from the villagers whether they want their land to be acquired and also registry to be done. “We would discuss these issues with the villagers. I have feel that they are willing to give their land and also ready for registry of the land.”
He said, “The question of circle rate is being looked into and we are examining all the aspects before the formal recommendation is made,” said the official.
The Chief Secretary headed Committee was formed after JVM MlA Pradeep Yadav created uproar in the Assembly forcing the government to cancel the rate fixed by various DCs of Santhal Pargana region, where open sale and purchase of land is not permissible under the Santhal Pargana Tenancy Act. land Revenue Secretary KK Soan is other member of the team while Planning cum Finance Secretary Amit Khare who was in the earlier panel made recommendation was also made member of it but resigned citing it improper.
The Cabinet had made a provision to examine rate of land from the nearest division where such a ban does not exist.
Nevertheless the DCs’ report fixing the price of land at various districts of the region was unacceptable to various political and social outfits. This led to scraping the recommendation and also the award announced for 338 acres for Jitpur coal block of Adani Power, 141 acres for Jindal Power and 355 acres for Hansdiha-Godda rail link.
The team would submit its report next week to the Government.
